“Puntería” serves as the latest single from Shakira’s new album Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran. The full-length, her first in seven years, was also released on Friday (March 22).

Shakira is popular enough to sell an album and a song on her own, but the inclusion of Cardi certainly helped make “Puntería” a quick hit. Whenever two musicians at their level collaborate, it’s an event, and the partnership received a healthy dose of media coverage in the past few days after it was announced. The women both claim sizable fanbases, so it’s not shocking that “Puntería” bolted into the top 10 on iTunes.
It’s still very early for “Puntería”—too early to say whether or not it will become a huge hit on the Billboard charts. If the tune can continue to sell well for a few days, it will certainly land on at least a handful of rankings, especially those that focus specifically on rap and Latin music. If the cut sells consistently and performs well on streaming sites as well, it may have a shot at the Hot 100 as well.
Cardi currently claims three spaces inside the top 10 on iTunes, with only one of those being her new single with Shakira. Last week, she returned with the song “Enough (Miami),” which has been selling well on the platform ever since. The rapper doled out a dozen versions of the track, which are all helping add to its cumulative total.
