Get ready for winter by DIY-ing these amazing blankets. It’s really easy!

These blankets are so cool!

Autumn is in full swing and it seems like it’s getting colder by the minute. We love summer, but we definitely enjoy this colder weather as well. There’s nothing like lighting some candles, snuggling up on the sofa with a cup of tea and, of course, a nice warm couch blanket when it’s cold.

You can buy cute blankets anywhere, but how much more satisfying would it be to have one you made yourself?

Wool
We can hear you think: “That would cost me months! I don’t have time for that!” Well, that’s where we’re happy to tell you you’re wrong! These homemade blankets are super easy and quick to make. We’ve found a useful instruction video for you, which shows exactly how to make this thick and (most importantly) warm blanket yourself. The blanket is as big as it is because of the sheep wool. You don’t need that many stitches, which is why it won’t cost you that much time. Plus, even if you’re not a knitting buff, this is still definitely doable!

Felting
Before you start knitting, you need to felt the wool, which will take around two to three hours. After doing that, the wool needs to dry over night and then it will only take you two to four hours to knit your blanket the way you want it to look. Again, anyone can learn how to do it relatively easily, so don’t panic if you don’t have any knitting experience!

PVC tubes
In the instruction video, Laure Birek uses two PVC tubes with a diameter of about 4 cm each, the tops of which she’s taped with duct tape. She uses 28 stitches and unspun slightly felted superwash wool. The process is not that much different from knitting with regular knitting needles; it’s all just a little bigger, so you’ll need to adjust your movements to the bigger size.

Watch how Laura knits the Giganto-Blanket in the video below! Are you going to try this at home?
