While Shakira hasn't come out with a solo studio album since 2017's Grammy-winning El Dorado, the Colombian singer-songwriter stayed plenty busy in 2023. In January 2023, she dropped the crying-in-the-club breakup anthem with Argentine DJ Bizarrap, "Shakira: Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53 ("Out of Your League"). The massive international hit reached No. 9 on the Billboard Hot 100. Shakira also received the 2023 Video Vanguard Award at the MTV VMAs.
The former The Voice Coach's subsequent collaboration with fellow Colombian pop star Karol G, "TQG," will appear on the album, as will "Acróstico," featuring vocals from Shakira's sons Milan and Sasha. Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran's opening track, "Punteria," features rapper (and onetime Tonight Show co-host) Cardi B.
"Making this body of work has been an alchemical process,” Shakira shared in a statement, via Variety. “While writing each song I was rebuilding myself. While singing them, my tears transformed into diamonds, and my vulnerability into strength.”
